Quite the mixed bag of lineups today from news around Britain. First up, as usual, news from Boris Johnson and the Conservatives. Boris Johnson made quite the statement today when he was quoted telling the senior ministers, “You ain’t seen nothing yet” with regards to the mountain of work that lies ahead of them. Maybe, he could also be referring to the demand of a new independence referendum draft that Scottish Nationalists lawmakers are trying to push for, which would effectively break up the UK. Labour Speaker Lindsay Hoyle has been reelected to the role, pressure has been placed to play the role of a moderator in a fair and impartial manner. Foreign minister Dominic Raab urged Anne Sacoolas- U.S. Diplomat’s wife, who was involved in the car crash that resulted in the death of a 19-year old Harry Dunn and used her diplomatic immunity to return to the U.S., to return and sit through investigations. And last but definitely not the least, the new Archbishop of York has been appointed and the position is now held by the liberal Bishop Stephen Cottrell.
To take off with business news, in the aviation sector, a plane lessor based in Ireland sued Boeing and sought a compensation of $185 million. Chips and no dip- Nvidia has won the business of China’s most reputed tech companies for chips to be used in self-driving vehicle technology. With Christmas around the corner, you best bet there’ll be news from FedEx! In order to meet the 7-day holiday delivery, FedEx’s fiscal 2020 profit forecast has been cut again. With the fears of Brexit in the air again, the Sterling pound has dropped over 3%.
The Trump (Red) Card- Trump on the path to becoming the third American President to be impeached. In case you’ve missed it, the charges were an abuse of power raised due to Trump’s attempt to pressure Ukraine to conduct investigations on his rival Joe Biden. POTUS has denied any wrongdoing but the Democratic-led House of Representatives are most likely to take up the impeachment vote soon.
