LONDON – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservatives’ senior members who did not want China’s Huawei to have a role in the country’s 5G mobile network are conduction a “witch-hunt” of sorts, according to China’s ambassador to London.
Last month, the British government stated that “high-risk vendors” like Huawei would be given access to the 5G network’s non-sensitive parts.
China’s ambassador to London Liu Xiaoming said that they were totally wrong and this is reminiscent of a witch-hunt. Huawei, being a privately owned company, has nothing to do with the government of China.
China has been pleased with UK’s decision but was not 100% satisfied as there is a 35% cap which is not a principle of a free economy, free competition.
