European Union wants the UK to accept its rules and regulations on state aid for the tariff and quota-free trade deal to keep guard against the unfair competition with a large competitor at the doorstep.
The UK, as David Frost says, will not compromise on its negotiating position with the European Union. They are “not frightened” by trade friction and barriers regarding the deal ultimately agreed and will work on their own regime to control state aid. Britain will not be threatened into following EU rules in the future by talk of economic rifts and is ready to trade with the bloc on basic international terms if needs be.
Following Sajid Javid’s unexpected resignation began to raise questions on if the budget will be delivered in time. Britain’s newly-appointed finance minister Rishi Sunak announced that the budget shall be delivered on March 11th dispelling speculation regarding a change in the date.
Extinction Rebellion group climate activists headed on over to Trinity College, Cambridge and dug up their lawn as one of the acts on their week-long demonstrations in the British university town. The area dug up by activists is in front of the “Great Gate” and they made channels in the turf using shovels and pitchforks before pitching the flags of Extinction Rebellion. Security is now on high alert in the area to prevent more demonstrations of the sort.
Doctors in Shanghai are using infusions of blood plasma from people who have recovered from the coronavirus to treat those still battling the infection, reporting some encouraging preliminary results, a Chinese professor said.
A top emergency expert at the World Health Organization (WHO) said later that using convalescent plasma was a “very valid” approach to test, but that it was important to get the timing right to maximise the boost to a patient’s immunity.
