Now for sale: Australian bushfires application manager
SYDNEY – A smartphone application used by Australians to get updates on the bushfires live might sell its management owing to a forthcoming restructuring to cut debts, even though a national extension of the app was on the cards.
Fires Near Me became one of the country’s top-ranked apps with over 1.6 million downloads in November and December alone.
A tech firm ARQ Group Ltd manages the current version of the app and the 55-person support team works around the clock. The system is currently limited to New South Wales but has been replicated in a smaller Australian state. Tristan Sternson, the CEO of Fires Near Me said that the app is up for sale owing to a restructure.
There have been quite a few interested parties and the CEO states that they are trying to figure out the right path ahead.
