A man was shot dead after he stabbed two people in South London in a busy street as part of what is described to be an act of terrorism. The attacker, 20-year-old Sudesh Amman was a former convict who was released from prison in January. In 2018, Amman was jailed for offences of ‘Islamist-related terrorism’.
Amman was being tracked by the police at the time of the attack on foot and civilians were sent into nearby shops and emergency services ere rushed into the scene. The man who was stabbed underwent treatment for life-threatening injuries and is now no longer in a critical condition. The other victim, a woman, sustained less serious wounds and has been discharged from the hospital. A third woman was hurt by glass after a weapon was fired by an officer and she remains hospitalised for treatment of wounds. A few witnesses stated that Amman had been armed with a machete and one mentioned that he had silver canisters strapped onto his chest. It was discovered much later by the police that the device was a hoax. Amman was shot dead by armed officials from the proactive counter-terrorism surveillance operation. Police state that it was an isolated incident and the situation was now under control.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will set out tougher rules on releasing people convicted of terrorism offences after an Islamist attacker injured two people in a stabbing spree days after he was set free halfway through his prison term.
Four Turkish soldiers were killed and nine injured in intense shelling by the forces of the Syrian government in the northwestern region of Idlib on Monday. Turkey retaliated to the shelling immediately destroying Idlib targets without elaborating on how they did so
Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad’s forces made advances to Idlib with backing from Rissian airpower. On Friday, Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan said that a military operation shall be launched from Turkey lest the fight is halted.
Turkey already plays host to over 3.6 million Syrian refugees and they now fear a new incoming wave of migrants from Idlib. 12 military observation posts are put into place in the region and have been surrounded by the Syrian government forces.
The shelling was carried out against the reinforcement sent by Turkey to prevent clashes in Idlib.
