LONDON- On Sunday, Labour’s finance policy chief, John McDonnell, took the blame for the main opposition’s “disaster” in last week’s election when several traditional supporters switched to support PM Boris Johnson.
“Let me make it clear that it’s on me. Let’s take it on the chin. I own this disaster,” McDonnell told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show.
When asked about when he would leave from his position as finance policy chief, he said that the new Labour leadership would mostly be in order by early next year, also stating that he would back a woman leader and believed she should be a “non-London” lawmaker.
