NEW YORK – This week, the Goldman Sachs Group finally launched its long-awaited app for its online bank Marcus’ customers.
Smartphone users were frustrated with the lack of a mobile app for the bank as they could only avail information pertaining to their account and make loan payments or balance transfers via the bank’s website.
Marcus was launched in 2016 to diversify funding and revenue for savings accounts and personal loans to retail customers. Up to then, since 1869, Goldman Sachs operated only as an investment bank and trading house.
On Friday, Goldman Sachs spokeswoman Kristen Greco said that customers have commonly requested the bank to launch an app and spent all of 2019 creating it with software engineers and developers.
