PARIS- On Thursday, Emmanuel Macron announced that France will deploy Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier and battle group for the next 3 months till April to support France’s Middle East military operations.
In Macron’s New Year speech to the French military, he said that the aircraft carrier is deployed to support Chammal’s operations from January to April 2020 before heading out into the Atlantic Ocran and North sea.
This announcement of deployment comes with growing tensions between the United States and Iran. France is concerned that the fight against Islamic State militants may be weakened.
