Chundan boat splashes in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah – The Ras Al Khaimah International Marine Sports Club in collaboration with the Government of Kerala and NMC royal Medical Center, organized Nehru Trophy Boat Race Competition, RAK on 13th of September. It was the most awaited moment of all UAE nationals and expats in UAE.

The Nehru Trophy Club Kerala snake boat race competition kick-off was at 2 PM. Around 15 teams from UAE participated in the race.

Indian Association’s Champakkulam, Young Mens Congress Team Carichal & Valiya Deewanji, Nanma Rak Team Payipad, Kerala Samajam Team Nadubhagham, World Malayalee Council Team Karuvata, Yuvakala Sahithi Kavaalam, Chethana Team Cheruthaba and other non-Malayalees participated in the competition.

Nehru trophy RAK Chief coordinator & Advisory Board member Mr.Riyas Kattil told British Herald that the gratitude of success of this event goes to the Government of Kerala, UAE Government and to all Indian community associations.

This race is similar to the famous regatta in Kerala, but instead of using snake boats, customised dragon boats that looked similar were used, said Arif Al Haranki, general manager of Marine Sports Club, UAE, and the rowing head at the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation.
