LONDON (UK) – Britain’s lockdown measures to curb coronavirus spread may last months and may be lifted only gradually, according to a senior medical official.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned the public that the situation may get worse before the situation gets better.
Britain reported 19,522 confirmed coronavirus cases with 1,228 deaths, with a 209 fatality increase as of 5 p.m. local time on Saturday.
PM Johnson wrote to Britons urging them to stick to strict rules to prevent the National Health Service (NHS) being overwhelmed by a surge in coronavirus cases.
“We know things will get worse before they get better. At this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
