LONDON – On Tuesday, Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on U.S. President Donald Trump to replace Iran’s nuclear deal with a new agreement of his own to enable the Middle-Eastern country did not get atomic weapons.
Johnson spoke of the 2015 nuclear arms control deal between U.S. and Tehran and said that if getting rid of it was part of the plan then it must be replaced preferably by a Trump deal, which would make it a great way forward.
Johnson believes that, by his own account, Trump is a great deal maker and working together to replace the JCPOA with a Trump deal is something that must be worked on.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was brokered in 2015 to limit Iran’s nuclear program and was agreed with China, France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom.
In 2018, Trump retreated from the deal. European powers pledge their support to the deal even though Iran announced the abandonment of uranium enriching limitations.
If the JCPOA is gotten rid off, it plays by what Trump wants. The point is to eventually stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, Johnson appealed to the Americans.
From the American perspective, the agreement is deeply flawed, expired and negotiated by former President Barack Obama.
Trump is certan that a new nuclear deal can be renegotiated on by Tehran.
Boris Johnson says he does not want a military conflict between U.S., Iran and UK, so this must be dialled down.
