LONDON (UK) – A lawyer appearing for Duchess of Sussex Meghan has accused a newspaper publisher in court on Wednesday of using court documents for sensational coverage.
The wife of Queen Elizabeth’s grandson Prince Harry is suing publisher Associated Newspapers over articles printed in the Mail on Sunday last year, including a handwritten letter she sent to her father father, Thomas Markle, in August 2018.
One of the reason why the royal couple left the country to settle in the US is their hostile relations with some newspapers which they accuse of intrusive, false and racist coverage.
Though the full trial is not expected to start until next year, the High Court has been dealing with side issues as part of pre-trial proceedings.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the issue that came up for discussion was whether the Mail should be permitted to publish the names of five friends of Meghan who gave anonymous interviews to US magazine People. The Duchess is seeking a court order to halt the disclosure.
