Ukrainian drone strike caused a massive explosion at an ammunition depot in Russia-annexed Crimea. The incident, which took place on Saturday. It forced nearby residents to evacuate their homes. Sergey Aksyonov, the Kremlin-appointed head of Crimea, took to Telegram to announce that, as of now, there were no reported casualties from the strike. However, authorities swiftly initiated the evacuation of civilians residing within a 5-kilometer (3-mile) radius of the blast site to ensure their safety.
The Ukrainian military claimed responsibility for the attack.Stating that it aimed to destroy an oil depot and Russian military warehouses in Oktyabrske, located in the Krasnohvardiiske region of Crimea. The specific weapons employed in the drone strike in Crimea were not disclosed in the announcement.
The incident unfolded amidst a week of heightened hostilities between Ukraine and Russia. After Ukraine’s attack on the Kerch Bridge, Russia responded with what they referred to as “retribution.” Moreover launching bombardments on several southern Ukrainian port cities.
