Actor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness are reportedly set to separate after sharing 27 years of marriage, as indicated by reports from US media outlets.
As stated in a report by celebrity magazine People, the Australian couple expressed their gratitude for the nearly three decades they have spent together and announced their decision to go their separate ways in pursuit of personal growth.
The story of Jackman and Furness’s relationship began back in 1995 when they first crossed paths on the set of the TV show “Correlli.” At that time, Furness was already an established actress, while Jackman was just embarking on his career fresh out of drama school. Their journey led to marriage in April 1996, and they later expanded their family through adoption, raising two children who are now 23 and 18 years old.
In their statement featured in People, the couple emphasized that their family has always been and will continue to be their top priority. They expressed their appreciation for understanding and respecting their privacy as they navigate this significant transition in their lives, closing their statement by noting that this would be the only official statement they release regarding their separation.
X-Men ranchise
Hugh Jackman, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise and his roles in hit movies such as “The Greatest Showman” and “Les Misérables,” has openly shared glimpses of his relationship with Furness on social media. On their 27th wedding anniversary in April, he professed his love for Deb, celebrating the beautiful family and life they had created together.
Jackman also marked his and their silver wedding anniversary in 2021, describing their marriage as “natural as breathing.” They last appeared together in July at the Wimbledon tennis championships in London, where they watched a match featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
In April, Hugh Jackman shared his and Deborra-Lee Furness wedding anniversary fans via social media that he had received a clean bill of health after undergoing tests for skin cancer. This was not his first encounter with the disease, as he had previously undergone at least six procedures for skin cancer, with his first treatment dating back to 2013.
