Adidas is launching a second wave of Yeezy shoes as it works to empty its stock from its disbanded partnership with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Investor pressure forced the sportswear company to decide what to do with the goods after Adidas ended its partnership with Ye in 2022 as a result of his offensive and antisemitic remarks.
Adidas announced in May that it would liquidate the remaining Yeezy stock “and donate money to the organisations that are helping us and that was also hurt by Kanye’s statements.”
The company had previously said it expected to lose $1.3 billion in revenue this year because it was unable to sell the designer’s Yeezy clothing and shoes. But strong sales so far of leftover Yeezy inventory is helping it to recoup some of its losses, the company said.
Adidas plans to offer the latest round of Yeezy product clearance globally in August 2023. This comes after the release of unsold merchandise in May. As part of their commitment to fight discrimination and hate, including racism and antisemitism, Adidas will donate a substantial amount to selected organizations. Shoppers in the US and worldwide will have the opportunity to purchase these clearance items.
The adidas Yeezy August 2023 releases will be available through adidas channels as well as select retailers beginning August 2nd. The brand will implement a phased release so as to manage demand and ensure a fair, premium experience for users.
