The UK minister has been accused of “peddling extremist far-right lies” about Pakistanis. After she singled out British Pakistani men in her worries about grooming gangs. Accusing authorities of turning a “blind eye” to signs of abuse involving children.
The Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday warned of the serious ramifications of UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s “discriminatory and xenophobic” remarks against Pakistani men.
Braveman’s words
In a recent interview with Sky News, the UK minister stated that one of the greatest scandals in British history. Which is the “systematic and institutional failure to safeguard the welfare of children when it comes to sexual abuse.”
“What we’ve seen is a practise in which vulnerable white English girls. Sometimes in care, sometimes in difficult circumstances, are pursued, raped, drugged, and harmed by gangs of British-Pakistani men. Who’ve worked in child abuse rings or networks,” she said.
In a news conference on Wednesday, FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch warned that such remarks would “give rise to dangerous trends.”
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) also cautioned Braverman that sexual predators do not come from “one background.” And that focusing solely on race could create new “blind spots” when addressing child abuse, according to Geo News.
The NSPCC had criticized the UK Home Secretary, expressing astonishment at her hatred for Pakistanis and singling them out.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday vowed to do whatever it takes as he condemned the political correctness that has prevented action against “vile” criminals behind the sexual abuse of children and young women and launched a new task force to go after such gangs.
Mr. Sunak told reporters: “All forms of child sexual exploitation carried out by whoever is horrific and wrong.”
