The Oscars 2023 breaking 62 year old tradition by replacing the bright red rug with the champagne hue colored rug. Jimmy Kimmel the host of this year’s Oscar unveiled the colour changed red carpet on Thursday. It is champagne hue colour this year. The organizers mentioned the colour is to symbolize mellow similar to the beach at sunset. Jimmy Kimmel joked this as this was actually prompted by the incident of last years slapping incident. Last year actor Will Smith slapped host and comedian Chris Rocks on stage and Smith banned from attending Oscars.
‘I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows just how confident we are that no blood will be shed’ Jimmy Kimmel said in support to the colour change. The academy wanted a soothing colour to the rug this year. Which did not clash with the orange tent that placed to protect attendees from potential weather change.
This colour change is in alignment with the colour patterns used in previous awards ceremonies Met Gala and Golden Globes. The colourful red carpets are now in trend so the name red carpet should change itself. Some movie premiers used purple coloured carpets lately. The Oscar show will take place on march 13 in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre, where the award ceremony take place since 2002.
Bringing back the old glory
After struggling with declining audience interest in previous years this year planning to take back its previous glory. There is handful of best movies and nominees which the academy thinks will bring back the audience. It is hard to predict who will win the awards in each category. Even in order to attain global audience the participation apart from Europe is there.
Despite the fact that 2022 was an infamously difficult year at the box office for conventional award contenders, the Academy made sure to fully utilize the enlarged field for the Best Picture category and chose blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Elvis.
