Madrid (Spain)- Barcelona’s new signing Raphinha shone with a goal and two assists in his pre-season debut as the Spanish giant thrashed Inter Miami 6-0 in its U.S. tour on Tuesday.
With Polish superstar striker Robert Lewandowski yet to play following his move from Bayern Munich for 50 million euros ($51 million), the 25-year-old Brazilian forward led Xavi Hernandez’s side to an easy win against the MLS club that former England international David Beckham owns.
Raphinha was feeling good about his debut as FC Barcelona player. He scored a goal and had two assists in their first preseason game in the United States against Inter Miami CF.
Next up are fierce rivals Real Madrid, in a match to be played next Saturday, July 23, in Las Vegas. Raphinha is confident in his team’s chances this year in La Liga.
“Very happy to have scored my first goal. It was a good game. I tried to have a good game. I’m thrilled and hope to continue it.”, he told the media.
He thinks they’re better than Real Madrid this season
When talking about their next match, the Brazilian had some definitive words for his team and his rivals, hoping to continue his scoring streak.
“One always tries to score against anyone, but even more if it’s in a Derby. The most important thing is the win. But for me, we’re better than Real Madrid”, he added.
He praised his teammates by acknowledging their performance and complimenting them for their skills, saying that playing with them is easy cause they make everything so much simpler.
“Barcelona has several young talented players. They’re doing a great job with them. They’re always fighting for championships.”
Raphinha also has the Qatar 2022 World Cup in his sights
The former Leeds United player confessed that he dreams of playing in a World Cup for Brazil and is confident that playing at FC Barcelona will boost his chances of being part of the final roster for the ‘canarinha’ in late November.
