Kare Adenegan got her first gold medal in senior competition and silver in the 80 metres category in Para World European Athletics Championships in Berlin.
British wheelchair Kare Adnegan took to wheelchair racing at the age of 11, deriving inspiration from the achievements of her icon Hannah Cockroft at the London 2012 Paralympics. As fate would have it, four years later at the age of 15, Kare was racing ahead of her role model Hannah Cockroft at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. And, she won a silver and two bronze medals behind Hannah.
She set a new record in 2018, when she broke the T34, women’s 100 metres world record at the London Mueller Anniversary Diamond League overpowering Cockroft for half a second. With this, she marked another milestone – a championship record of 17.34 seconds. Adnegan got her first gold medal in senior competition and silver in the 80 metres category in Para World European Athletics Championships in Berlin. Adenegan, who is juggling between sports and studies for graduation in History, would be awaiting the Commonwealth Games in 2022, after proving her mettle in Paralympics 2022.
