I am Zlatan cine-peek: Film on the Swedish footballer to send fans in a tizzy

Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently unveiled the official trailer of his biographical film I am Zlatan through his social networking accounts, and is slated to be out on September 10, 2021. The trailer seems to give justice to being a chronicle of the maverick player’s life, in the true sense of the word.

The one-minute long video goes back to the time when he was a child, the turbulence he underwent on his personal front while growing up and how he found his true calling in the sport of football. It traces his journey of uncertainties, the hassles that were on board his voyage, the intermittent belittling and judgements that came his way, yet to never get bogged down by any of it, to surge ahead and mark his goal.

The trailer itself picturises a lot of heroic moments and the life lessons the true spirit of sportsmanship provides to both the players and diehard fans alike. It begins by showing how little Zlatan derived inspiration from a few prominent people, who managed to leave an impression in his mind to subconsciously take him further close to a vivid vision as an extraordinary football player. One such guide is shown telling him the importance of having the urge to be the best, following which he has consistently worked three times as hard as required.

The video also throws light on his inclination towards martial arts, and how that contributed to shaping him as a person. The fact that he was often surrounded by naysayers during his initial years of growing up as a child and equally when he was in the nascent stage of trying to prove his verve to the world, is also aptly portrayed through the trailer. It also reeks of the struggles he witnessed, being tagged as a misfit by a few, and how he had taken to blinkers during this race that saw none, but his zest for the sport.

That said, Zlatan has been no stranger to controversies or one to mince words, during his prolific career so far. The film, however, is not touted to bring forth the latter part of the player making a footing on the soccer ground and being the ‘flawed hero’ of sorts, but brings alive the inspiring story of his rise to prominence.

The film is expected to show his quest until kickstarting football for Malmo, the paths he had to forgo, coupled with entering European football with AFC Ajax in Netherlands.

I am Zlatan is a film adaptation of the biographical book of the same name, published in the year 2011. Directed by Jens Sjögren, it has been penned by Jakob Beckman and David Lagercrantz. While Dominic Bajraktari Anderson will essay the role of little Zlatan covering age 11 to 13, Granit Rushiti will play from when he was 17 to 23 years.

Meanwhile, the football titan Zlatan Ibrahimovic had to give the EURO tournament a miss this year, citing knee injury, and the film might come as a respite for fans.
