DUBAI (UAE) – Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Twitter account on Friday sported the image of a golfer bearing a striking resemblance to former US President Donald Trump apparently being targetted by a drone, pledging revenge over the slaying of a top Iranian general in a drone attack.
It also came with the remarks made by Khamenei in December in which he said “Revenge is certain” renewing the pledge to retaliate ahead of the first anniversary of the slaying of top military commander General Qassem Soleimani in the attack in Iraq.
“Those who ordered the murder of General Soleimani as well as those who carried this out should be punished. This revenge will certainly happen at the right time,” the Supreme Leader tweeted on December 16.
Earlier this month, Twitter had taken down a post by Khamenei in which he said US and British-made vaccines were not trustworthy and could be intended to “contaminate other nations”. The social media platform said the tweet went against its rules against misinformation.
