Pre-departure COVID test rule to come into effect from Monday: Shapps

LONDON (UK) – Transport Minister Grant Shapps said in a Twitter message late on Wednesday that the pre-departure coronavirus test requirement for passengers travelling to England will come into effect from Monday instead of this week.

“Passengers will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before departure to England from Monday 18 January At 4 am,” the minister tweeted.

“Passengers must remember to complete a Passenger Locator Form before arriving back into England,” Shapps said, adding that in case they fail to provide proof of negative test, they have to pay a fine of 500 pounds ($682.30).
