STOCKHOLM (SWEDEN) – Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, who shot into fame by pioneering a climate change champion at the age of 15, turned 18 on Sunday and pledged to celebrate by exposing “dark secrets” at her local pub.
“Thank you so much for all the well-wishes on my 18th birthday!,” Thunberg tweeted.
“Tonight you will find me down at the local pub exposing all the dark secrets behind the climate- and school strike conspiracy and my evil handlers who can no longer control me! I am free at last!!.”
She began a climate change campaign that snowballed from a one-person school strike into a global movement, involving millions of school children and adults.
She flayed world leaders over climate change policies during a speech in the UN in 2019 and sparred with US President Donald Trump. Last month, she sought urgent action five years on from the Paris Accord.
