WASHINGTON (US) – White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has tested positive for novel coronavirus, said a source. He has been often spotted appearing in public events without wearing a face mask.
It is not clear how or when he contracted the virus.
Nick Trainer, another key Republican campaign aide, had tested positive.
Meadows, Trump’s top adviser and a former North Carolina lawmaker, regularly accompanied the president during the final leg of the campaign trail.
Meadows took part in a White House election night party, which was attended by dozens of Trump loyalists. He is the latest official in the president’s circle to have contracted the virus, which has so far claimed more than 236,000 American lives.
