LONDON (UK) – An American tech entrepreneur, who is facing allegations of misconduct involving Prime Minister Boris Johnson, told the Daily Mail she did not have an affair with him when he was mayor of London.
The newspaper on Saturday quoted Jennifer Arcuri as saying, “I think that goes without saying … it’s pretty much out there.”
Arcuri told the newspaper that Johnson, who was married to second wife Marina Wheeler at the time, showered her with “avalanches of passion”.
After the allegations surfaced, she gave a number of TV interviews and said she and Johnson had enjoyed a “very special relationship”. However, she refused to say whether or not she had an affair with him.
Johnson was mayor from 2008 to 2016. There was no comment from the PM’s office.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched a probe in September 2019 following a news report that Johnson, when he was mayor, failed to disclose his personal links to Arcuri, who received thousands of pounds in public funding and slots during official trade trips.
He denied any misdemeanour and said everything was done with full propriety.
The IOPC said in May that he would not face any criminal action.
