SHANGHAI (CHINA) – Chinese health authorities said on Wednesday that as many as 20 new cases were reported in the mainland on October 13, which is up from 13 cases a day earlier.
According to the National Health Commission, 14 cases were imported infections from abroad and six of the cases were local transmissions in Shandong province.
The authorities of Qingdao, which is located in Shandong, are conducting a mass testing drive in the city after a series of cases were reported and they are linked to a hospital which treats the imported infections.
The commission said there were 18 asymptomatic cases on Oct. 13, compared with 17 a day earlier.
The tally of confirmed cases in the mainland is 85,661 and the total number of fatalities remains unchanged at 4,634.
