BERLIN (GERMANY) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny while he was undergoing treatment in a Berlin hospital for poisoning, according to reports from Der Spiegel. She spoke that she is seriously taking the case.
Though Spiegel did not cite any sources, it said Merkel went to see Navalny in the Charite hospital, where the treatment was going on for 32 days.
A spokesman for Merkel refused to comment on the report.
The German government says tests in Germany, France and Sweden have asserted that he was poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent and an explanation was sought from the Kremlin.
Moscow has, however, dismissed having any involvement in the incident and said it is yet to see evidence of a crime.
