COLOMBO (SRI LANKA) – Colombo is seeking 340 million rupees ($1.89 million) from the owners of the fire-stricken supertanker New Diamond for assistance given to the vessel, the the coordinating officer to its attorney general said.
According to Nishara Jayaratne, the cost is for services provided by various departments such as the Sri Lankan navy, Ports Authority and its marine environment protection authority until Sept. 15.
The supertanker is still in Lankan waters although the flames were doused last week.
