WASHINGTON (US) – President Donald Trump and Democratic rival candidate Joe Biden will mark the 19th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on Friday as they separately visit the field in Pennsylvania where one of the hijacked aircraft crashed.
Accompanied by his wife Jill, Biden will pay a visit to lower Manhattan in New York to attend a ceremony. It was there that the al Qaeda hijackers flew two aeroplanes into the World Trade Center’s twin towers. Vice President Mike Pence will also attend the ceremony.
According to a White House official, Trump will address a morning ceremony at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania to commemorate the 40 passengers and crew of the plane who died when it crashed into a field after struggling with hijackers. The venue will be closed to the public because of the pandemic, said the National Park Service.
Biden and Jill will later visit Shanksville.
