BERLIN (GERMANY) – Berlin’s Charite Hospital said on Monday that Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny has recovered from a medically-induced coma and is responding to speech.
Navalny is being treated in the Berlin hospital ever since he was airlifted to Germany for treatment after falling ill while aboard a domestic flight in Russia last month. The hospital said in a statement that he is being weaned off the ventilator.
“It remains too early to gauge the potential long-term effects of his severe poisoning,” read the statement.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the critic had been poisoned with Novichok, the same toxin which was used against a Russian double agent and his daughter during an attack in England in 2018.
