SEOUL (SOUTH KOREA) – South Korea recorded as many as 168 new cases of novel coronavirus on Friday midnight, the lowest number in three weeks. This comes after it imposed strict social distancing norms to stave off the second wave of infections.
According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of infections stands at 21,010, with 333 fatalities.
The new cases are the lowest ever since a cluster emerged from a church whose members took part in a protest rally on Aug. 15.
For the past three days, the daily number has been hovering below 200 after registering a peak of 441 last week. This shows that the strict social distancing norms are manifesting results.
