DUBAI (UAE) – As part of a Middle East tour US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Oman on Thursday. This comes after a Washington-brokered deal forged new ties between Israel and the UAE on Aug. 13.

He is slated to hold talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said who ascended the throne after the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said who ruled the Gulf state for half a century.

En route to Oman, Pompeo visited Jerusalem, Sudan, Bahrain and the UAE.
