TOKYO (JAPAN) – The Olympic flame will be showcased at the Japanese Olympic Museum from September 1, announced the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) on Monday.
The flame was last seen in Fukushima following the torch relay getting cancelled. However, it could not start on the planned tour of Japan with the decision to postpone the Games in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Organisers had been discussing what is the best way to store and present the Olympic flame whilst in Japan.
It will be displayed at the JOC museum which is near the National Stadium purpose-built for the Games.
A reservation system will be set in place with a designated date and time that restrict crowds. A one-way viewing route will be made to avoid unnecessary contact between members of the public.
The flame will be on display from September 1-November 1.
