SEOUL (SOUTH KOREA) – South Korea began discussions with a key Chinese diplomat on Saturday. This is the first high-level visit of a Beijing official ever since the spread of the coronavirus in China in December last year.
Member of the Communist Party Politburo Yang Jiechi held talks with South Korea’s new national security adviser, Suh Hoon, in Busan. They discussed coronavirus cooperation, bilateral relations and the situation in North Korea, said the government on Saturday.
Yang arrived in the country on Friday and is scheduled to return later on Saturday.
The discussions come in the wake of the pandemic affecting bilateral exchanges and the stalled denuclearisation talks involving North Korea.
