NEW YORK (US) – Short-term home rental firm Airbnb said on Thursday there will not be any more parties and events in homes listed on its site. This comes as it tries to enforce strict social-distancing norms.
As part of the new rules, occupancy will be limited to 16 and those who flout it will face a ban from Airbnb’s community and possible legal action.
“Instituting a global ban on parties and events is in the best interest of public health,” Airbnb said in a statement.
Airbnb said 73% of its listings around the world have already banned parties and socialising while some allow small events such as baby showers or birthday parties.
It has also removed the “event friendly” search filter and “parties and events allowed” house rules.
