BERLIN (GERMANY) – The UFO trade union said on Saturday that the cabin crew at Lufthansa have voted overwhelmingly for a deal to halt pay hike and slash hours. This comes in the wake of the airline struggling to plug the losses because of the pandemic.
The airline struck a deal with the trade union that counts 22,000 cabin crew in order to save more than 500 million euros (452.5 million pounds).
Last week, Lufthansa issued layoff notices to its German employees citing the dip in the number of passengers and slow progress in trade union talks making cuts unavoidable. The German airline lost 1.7 billion euros in a single quarter.
