LONDON (UK) – The Financial Times reported on Tuesday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has blocked a proposal to invite Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, to cabinet meetings.
The plan to include Sturgeon in the cabinet meetings was made by Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove, who felt that it would contain the public support for Scottish independence by giving the First Minister a say in policy meetings that pertain to the whole country, said the newspaper.
“He (Johnson) doesn’t like the idea of Sturgeon being seen as on the same political level as him”, the said.
Based on a recent poll, 54% of Scots want independence. This is based on the perception that Scotland handled the pandemic crisis in a much better way than the Johnson government.
