MOSCOW (RUSSIA) – A Russian diplomat in Minsk said on Saturday that Moscow has denied having any links with the opposition in Belarus and alleged Russian mercenaries detained in the country earlier this week.
There were reports that Russian diplomats met the 33 suspected mercenaries who were arrested in Belarus.
However, the Belarusian authorities say the husband of opposition presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanouskaya may have ties to the detained group and they have charged him with a criminal case on suspicion of inciting riots.
