BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) – During a meeting of EU ambassadors on Wednesday, the bloc decided to drop Algeria from the list of safe countries from which it allows non-essential travel.
After dropping Algeria, the number of countries on the list will fall to 11.
The list includes Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Tunisia and Uruguay.
Although China has been approved provisionally, travel will be permitted only if Beijing also allows EU visitors.
A survey shows that the total number of confirmed cases in Africa has exceeded 750,000 and Algeria is one among the most affected.
