LONDON (UK) – Nikhil Rathi, a senior executive at the London Stock Exchange, was appointed by the parliament’s Treasury Committee as the head of the Financial Conduct Authority regulator from October.
A former finance ministry official, Rathi told lawmakers on Wednesday that he aimed at maintaining high regulatory standards rather than giving priority to competitiveness as the country was free of EU regulations.
“The Committee held the appointment session on 22 July 2020 and is satisfied that Mr Rathi has the professional competence and personal independence to be appointed,” the Committee said in a statement on Friday.
