KENTUCKY (US) – Venus Williams will join her sister Serena at the Top Seed Open in Lexington, Kentucky next month, according to the organisers.
The event’s organisers said last week this would mark Serena’s return to the court for the first time since the coronavirus shutdown. The tournament is set to begin on August 10 at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
Seven-times Grand Slam champion Venus also was part of the ongoing World TeamTennis event in West Virginia.
Victoria Azarenka, who is a two-time Australian Open winner and 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens have also given confirmation for the tournament.
The WTA Tour is scheduled to resume in Palermo, Italy on August 3.
