LONDON (UK) – Hollywood star Johnny Depp told London’s High Court on Friday that his ex-wife Amber Heard or her friend had defecated in their bed, describing it as a “fitting end to the relationship”.
Providing proof in his libel suit against Uks’ Sun newspaper, which labelled him a wife-beater, Depp faced four days of cross-examination regarding allegations of his ex-wife that he physically attacked her on at least 14 occasions over a three-year period from 2013.
The Sun’s lawyer Sasha Wass said the court was told on Friday that one such attack followed a party to celebrate Heard’s 30th birthday in April 2016.
Depp was late for the event as he had to meet his business manager. The star of Pirates of the Caribbean fame was accused of throwing a bottle of champagne at Heard, which missed, when she criticised him for being late. He also grabbed her hair.
The following day, the cleaner discovered faeces lying on their bed, Wass said.
“It was one of the most absurd statements that I have ever witnessed in my life,” Depp said. “I was convinced it was Miss Heard herself or one of her cohort involved in leaving human faeces on the bed”.
“It thought it was a strangely, oddly fitting end to the relationship.”
When Depp went to collect some possessions from their home, an argument erupted over the faeces incident, which his ex-wife blamed on one of their dogs.
