BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) – Germany’s health minister Jens Spahn told EU lawmakers on Monday that the country has only a few hundred doses of COVID-19 antiviral remdesivir. The minister urged them to shift the production of the drug to Europe.
“We do not have a huge inventory now, (it’s) a few hundred doses that we have,” he said at a video-conference.
Spahn said he was looking at ways to ensure the medicine is produced in Europe. Currently, its manufacturer Gilead Sciences Inc has no production facilities for the drug in Europe.
