INDIA (Asia) – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation House of Kalam, Rameswaram organized the online webinar conference to mark the 48th World Environment Day.

The conference was held on June 6, 2020 from 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm titled “Innovation and Product Development Green Energy”.
The conference was graced by the eminent speakers at the deliberations including:
- Padmashri Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala – Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras
- Thiru Mahesh Babu – Managing Director & CEO Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited
- Padmashri Prof Anil K. Gupta – PhD, Management, MSc (Genetics), BSc (Hons), Agri & coordinator Sristi and Secty, GIAN,
- Thiru BC Datta – Corporate Affairs Vice President Hyundai Motor India Ltd.
Moderator speaker was Mr. Sasikumar Gendham, Managing Director SALCOMP India Manufacturing Limited.
The webinar commenced with a welcome speech addressed by APJMJ Sheik Saleem- Grand Nephew of Dr Kalam and Managing trustee of AKIF followed by opening remarks by APJMJ Sheik Dawood-Grand Nephew of Dr Kalam and Managing trustee of AKIF.
The conference focusing on the core of Dr Kalam’s vision 2020 and sharing infrastructure ideas for obtaining reliable quality energy with the help of solar and renewable green energy and also they discussed the ideas to reduce the dependence of fossil fuels. The current 5% renewable energy source should be increased to 28% and the reduction of the 75% fossil fuel source to 50%.
Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala shared how far can we go with electricity and solar power in India? So we need to manage utility, operating cost and storage cost properly. Electric vehicles have lower running costs because they have less moving parts to maintain and are more environmentally friendly. He concluded his speech by saying that electric vehicles are better in the future to save the environment, which is a lot cheaper in electric vehicles and it saves money and saves nature. Also, they put forth the idea of Grass root innovation. Grass root innovation aims at innovators and inventors that do not have formal education or have access to formal facilities. Many interesting grass root innovation projects done in India.
