LONDON (UK) – Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Education Minister Gavin Williamson are working to ensure the reopening of all schools in September.
They are also working to provide support packages to aid students to catch up on lost learning.
Schools, councils and unions are working to ensure all children can be back in school in September, if safe.
Most pupils have been home from school since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, selected age groups have been back since the beginning of June. Some educators decided to remain shut because they said it was not safe.
The decision sees a divided opinion, with Britain dealing with one of the world’s worst COVID-19 death toll. Critics have been warning of the need for caution to prevent a second wave of the coronavirus.
PM Johnson requested that measures be drawn up to help children during summer and further into the future. For social justice reasons, help was needed for those who had less support at home.
