DUBAI (Middle East) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 in Iran killed two and 22 were injured on fleeing their homes in panic.
The earthquake struck northern Iran in the early hours of Friday.
Several mild aftershocks were felt, but no serious damage was reported from the quake that struck after midnight Tehran and Mazandaran borders.
People who spent the night outdoors were urged to observe social distancing to limit the coronavirus spread which has killed 6,486 and infected 103,135 across Iran.
The public was assured that there was no shortage of petrol as people rushed to gas stations to fill up after the earthquake.
A 21-year-old woman in Tehran was one of the two people who died and she suffered heart failure, and a 60-year-old man was killed by a head injury.
