LONDON (UK) – Britain promised that it would test all nursing home residents and employees showing COVID-19 symptoms. This comes after official data revealed that the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic was higher as elderly in care were included.
Britain tests the first five residents showing symptoms but Matt Hancock, British Health Minister revealed that it would be expanded as laboratory capacity is boosted.
“Testing is key in our battle against coronavirus, and as part of our plan to prevent the spread and save lives we will ensure that everyone in social care who needs a test can have a test.”
– Matt Hancock, British Health Minister
This expansion is a part of the government’s plan to increase testing to 100,000 a day by month-end following criticism that it wasn’t testing enough.
