HELSINKI (Europe) – Finland’s ex-president Martti Ahtisaari, who had won the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize in 2008, is on the road to recovery after being infected with the coronavirus, according to Finland’s presidential office.
This news comes some three weeks after Ahtisaari and his wife were diagnosed with the disease.
“President Martti Ahtisaari’s and Mrs Eeva Ahtisaari’s latest coronavirus samples have been proven negative and they continue to recover.”

82-year-old Ahtisaari was president of Finland from 1994 to 2000 and he had won the Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to peace mediation.
Finland had 3,064 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 59 people have died from the virus.
