Local News

First up, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is now out of the intensive care unit but remains under observation for the coronavirus symptoms which led to his admission in St Thomas’ Hospital.

The country’s coronavirus death toll has reached 7,248, up 765 new deaths. Speaking of hospitals, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab led nationwide applause to appreciate health service workers with #ClapForOurCarers while standing in for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Raab said that the country had not yet reached the coronavirus epidemic peak. They stated that it was too early to lift the nationwide lockdown.

World News

An Irish priest refusing to let the coronavirus lockdown keep him from his parishioners came up with an innovative way to spread his Holy Thursday blessing – aboard a vintage ‘popemobile.’

Father Malachy Conlon rode around a rural peninsula greeting locals who lined the streets from behind partially lowered protective shields in the white, open-roofed vehicle that is usually the centrepiece of papal motorcades when the head of the Roman Catholic Church travels the world.

Conlon’s personal ‘popemobile’ was used by Pope John Paul II on trips to Britain and South Africa in the 1980s.
