LONDON (UK) – British finance minister Rishi Sunak announced funding of an extra 750 million pounds for frontline charities to continue their work during the coronavirus outbreak.
“Our charities are playing a crucial role in the national fight against coronavirus, supporting those who are most in need. It’s right we do everything we can to help the sector during this difficult time, which is why we have announced this unprecedented 750 million-pound package of extra funding.”

Hospices and charities helping victims of domestic abuse were cited by the finance ministry as the kinds of charities to benefit from this new money.
360 million pounds of the funds will be allocated by the government to the charities directly to continue providing key services for the support of vulnerable people. 370 million shall go towards smaller charities in local communities.
On April 23rd, the British government will match BBC charity appeals’ public donations too.
